Katrina GrantNetball star Katrina Grant says she’s nota “girly girl” and doesn’t wear muchmakeup – before pulling half a beauty counterfrom her handbag. The popular Central Pulsecaptain and Silver Fern sat down at OrientalBay’s Parade cafe for a chat with FishHeadabout balancing her busy, energetic lifestylewith looking and feeling good.

A self-confessed MAC fiend (with a limitededition Wonder Woman makeup bag to boot),the towering defender - who stands 6’2” tall- says a move from Dunedin to Wellingtonto join the Pulse in 2010 inspired a moresophisticated approach to fashion and beauty- and Pulse teammate Vic Smith is one of herstyle icons.

Exercise is a huge part of Katrina’s lifestyle- she’s currently training with teammates ninetimes a week with bike, running and weightssessions, while the netball season sees astep up to around five speed and weightssessions, three netball sessions and a gameeach week. Between training, matches andextramural study towards her Bachelor ofBusiness degree, the 24-year-old doesn’t havea great deal of time for pampering. Katrinacuts corners by getting her eyelashes tinted, although she regularly treats herself to hairappointments at Shape and facials at SkinTherapy on Tinakori Road, and never leaveshome without a spritz of Bulgari OmniaAmethyste perfume.

Katrina prefers a natural look, and wearsbareMinerals mineral foundation for lightdaily coverage, and MAC’s Pro Longwearfoundation for a night out, adding eitherbareMinerals bronzer or Napoleon Perdis’Whipped Dream tan enhancer.

With very fair skin, sunscreen is an everydaymust, and Katrina swears by Environ’ssunscreen and moisuriser, which includevitamins and antioxidants for keeping skinclear and radiant. She’s also a fan of wonderproductLucas’ Papaw Ointment.

For a night out, Katrina adds MAC blush, along with MAC’s eyeshadows in Mega Metaland Peek-At-You, and an eye-catching lipgloss.

Katrina explains that on a trip to theUnited States, she and her sister “went nuts”for makeup deals - and she snapped up theluxurious Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclathighlighter, which conceals dark circles andadds illumination, while her best beautybargain is L’Oreal’s Voluminous MillionLashes mascara.

A dedicated owner and user of GHDstraighteners, Katrina also knows to lookafter her blonde tresses - and Revogue arganrosehip oil is her go-to hair care product.“Whenever I wash my hair, I have to put thisin,” Katrina says. “I use it all the time.”Revogue is made by Katrina’s sister, and canbe purchased online at www.revogue.co.nz.
