Coming Soon - Toast Martinborough

Sample, savour and celebrate at Toast Martinborough 2011 with the unbeatable combination of premium wines, outstanding food and great music, all within a charming wine village atmosphere.

What can visitors look forward to at this year’s Toast?

Toast Martinborough turns 20 this year and we are celebrating with some great new bands, restaurants and vineyards, along with the return of many old favourites. There will also be a collector’s edition programme, and the chance of glory as Toast’s Ultimate Fan.

How has the show changed over the years?

A lot has changed since the first festival in 1992 – then, it took six months to sell 500 tickets; now, the 10,000 tickets sell out in minutes.

How many people are involved in putting the show on?

There are just two of us during the year, but on the day, it’s a huge collaboration of contractors, vineyard and restaurant staff, volunteers and charity organisations. Approximately 1,000 staff are involved in some capacity on the day.

What’s the best way for people to get to and from Toast Martinborough?

There’s plenty of accommodation in the Wairarapa, so the best thing is to come and stay for the weekend. Tranzit Coachlines have buses running throughout the Wairarapa to and from the festival. If you can’t stay, there are train options from our principal sponsor, Tranz Metro, buses and helicopters, or you can drive (organise your sober driver before you leave!).

How do you keep Toast fresh each year?

People love Toast for what it is – over 80 percent of festival-goers have been to more than one Toast Martinborough, while a third of revellers have attended the festival at least five times. But, new-release wines change each year, as do the vineyards involved, the restaurants and the entertainment.

How can people get their hands on tickets?
